World Ocean Day 2025 – Catalysing Action for Our Ocean & Climate
At Simply Blue Group, our mission goes beyond renewable energy, we are part of a growing global movement to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises while placing the ocean’s health at the heart of everything we do. This World Ocean Day (Sunday, 8th June), we’re proud to support the global theme: Catalysing Action for Our Ocean & Climate.
The ocean covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface, produces over half the oxygen we breathe, and supports the livelihoods of billions. But it is facing growing pressures from climate change and overfishing to habitat loss and plastic pollution.
We also know the ocean is one of our most powerful climate solutions. It absorbs around 25% of human-generated carbon dioxide emissions, buffering us against the worst impacts of climate change. Protecting ocean health is not just an environmental priority, it’s essential to securing a sustainable future.
This week, Simply Blue Group teams across our offices globally, are taking action in support of World Ocean Day by participating in clean-ups of beaches, rivers and waterways. These efforts remind us that creating a healthy ocean is not only about innovation and clean energy, but also about individual and collective responsibility.
