Simply Blue Group, a leading developer of clean energy projects, has announced the appointment of Jack Golden as Chair and Tim Pick and Chris Gaydon as Non-Executive Directors to its sustainable fuels Board. This strategic move adds further depth to the strong leadership team in the sustainable fuels division and highlights the Group’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable practices.
With over three decades of experience across a wide range of industries, Jack Golden brings a wealth of knowledge in sustainable energy solutions, organisation development and corporate strategy. His extensive background includes senior roles in leading global companies where he spearheaded numerous business development initiatives in Europe, Asia and North America.
Tim Pick has spent much of his 30-year legal career supporting teams developing complex process plant projects around the world, including in the petrochemicals and refining sectors. He is also a distinguished figure in the renewable energy industry, having been appointed as the UK’s first Offshore Wind Champion. He currently chairs the UK’s Offshore Wind Growth Partnership and is a Vice President of the Energy Institute. He was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2024 for services to offshore wind energy.
Chris Gaydon is an accomplished investment professional with over two decades of experience in infrastructure and renewable energy. As an Investment Director at Octopus Renewables, he plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s strategic investments in clean energy projects across Europe and beyond. His expertise lies in identifying and executing large-scale renewable energy transactions, including wind, solar, and energy storage.
“With the addition of Jack, Tim and Chris to our sustainable fuels Board, we are reinforcing our dedication to leading the transition to a low-carbon economy,” said Hugh Kelly, CEO of Simply Blue Group. “Their combined experience and vision will be instrumental in guiding our efforts to develop global sustainable fuels projects.”
Simply Blue Groups’ sustainable fuels will be produced in onshore Renewable Energy Parks (REPs) focusing on renewable liquid fuels for aviation, marine vessels and chemical feedstocks. These REPs will be able to produce a range of sustainable fuels but will focus on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and methanol, with future phases expected to include green ammonia. The projects, in Canada, Ireland and Australia will process initially more than 1.5 million tonnes of sustainable biomass annually to produce over 300,000 tonnes of SAF each year.
