Blue Gem Wind partner with Helly Hansen Workwear

Blue Gem Wind, the joint venture between TotalEnergies, one of the world’s largest energy companies, and Simply Blue Energy has partnered with leading outdoor apparel and workwear brand Helly Hansen – a trusted brand for workwear professionals since 1877, developing base layers, mid layers, hi-vis garments, and outerwear to withstand some of the harshest working environments.

Mike Scott, Project Managing Director at Blue Gem Wind said, “We named our project after the famous HMS Erebus which was built in 1826 in Pembroke Dock. Erebus began her life as an exploration vessel in both Antarctica and the Arctic discovering and shaping our understanding of the cold frontiers before she was lost searching for the Northwest Passage. In developing Wales’ first floating wind farm we too are moving offshore and shaping our understanding of the role floating wind will play in climate change mitigation. It is great to have Helly Hansen Workwear with us on this essential and exciting journey.”

Nick Purcell, Marketing Manager at Helly Hansen Workwear added, “We are proud to be an official supplier to Blue Gem Wind, who as professionals, recognise the performance and durability of our workwear. With Helly Hansen, the Blue Gem Wind team can trust in their gear to keep them warm, safe and dry as they progress their much-needed low carbon projects off the Welsh coastline.” The Celtic Sea and floating wind are poised to play a key role in Net Zero, the Committee on Climate Change’s 100GW offshore wind target, and deliver on a COVID green recovery.
