Simply Blue Group Launches New Animated Video for Schools to Educate Children on Ocean Facts and the Benefits of Wave Energy

‘Róisín and the Wave’ will be made available to schools to download free of charge
Simply Blue Group, a leading blue economy developer in floating offshore wind, wave energy and low-impact aquaculture, has produced a second animated video resource for schools called ‘Róisín and the Wave’. This colourful and informative animation will show schoolchildren how wave energy works and help fight climate change by developing renewable energies using nature’s natural wind and wave resources. Schoolchildren will also learn interesting facts about our oceans.
‘Roisin and the Wave’ is a follow up to the first animation ‘Roisin Renewables’ in the series, which focused on offshore floating wind energy, and is a fun animation aimed at educating schoolchildren about the challenges and opportunities around climate change, and to promote conversations, both in school and at home, regarding solutions to the climate crisis.
The lead character Róisín is a curious and open-minded young girl from Ireland, who is passionate about the environment and using renewable energy as a solution to the climate crisis. Like her mum, Róisín wants to be an engineer one day so that she can help in any way to solve the climate crisis. Róisín is joined by a group of friendly sea creatures who, along with the sun and the wind, are eager to show her how the power of the waves can be harnessed to provide an alternative source of energy.
‘Róisín and the Wave’ speaks to schoolchildren in an accessible, easily understood manner, explaining the processes in simple terms, and highlighting how people and nature can work together in harmony to bring about the kind of climate action changes that are urgently needed. Roisin truly believes that ‘no matter how small you are, you are never too small to change the world!’
Speaking about the animation, Sam Roch Perks, Co-Founder and CEO at Simply Blue Group, said “We are very passionate and proud of the work we are doing to bring more renewable offshore energy projects to Ireland and beyond. We are keen to promote the understanding of our offshore potential to as many people as we can, and we are delighted to present ‘Róisín and the Wave’ to schools as a fun resource they can use to help educate the advocates of the future.’
He continued: “We strongly believe that the untapped power of Ireland’s offshore wind and wave energy provides the country with an incredible renewable energy resource, and we are working to develop projects that will help Ireland and beyond contribute to meeting climate action targets, and, most importantly, make a real difference in the battle against climate change.”
