Brief description of your role
The Engineering Manager is responsible for delivering the project development programme and supporting the Project Manager on the Ireland projects, termed Projects herein. The Engineering Manager deliver the development programme for the Projects within specification and budget, ensuring that interfaces, risks and communications are all managed effectively and professionally, and that outputs are all high quality and stand up to external assessment. Management of both suppliers and stakeholders forms a key part of the role and the Engineering Manager will represent both the company and Projects. The candidate must be able to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation and must take on ownership of complex tasks and challenges.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the Project Engineer(s) working on the Projects. This is a full-time role and salary is subject to negotiation and will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A relocation package will also be agreed, where necessary.


• Develop and maintain cost and risk schedules for the Projects;
• Maintain and update regularly, the delivery programmes;
• Regularly review scope and progress and propose ways of accelerating development where required;
• Implement appropriate client-side project management processes in support of the Projects;
• Work within the applicable HSEQ management systems, ensure supplier HSEQ compliance and actively work towards the zero-harm objective;
• Ensure compliance with the HSA regulations and that safety is a core design priority;
• Ensure all applicable regulatory requirements and standards are exceeded;
• Assist in managing the relevant Duty Holder for the Project(s) including HSEQ, scope, budget, programme, risk, deliverables, interfaces, communications and change;
• Manage suppliers/contractors to the Projects in accordance with agreed contract terms and ensure NDAs are always implemented;
• Preparation of regular Project progress reports;
• Ensure effective interface management and collaboration is implemented;
• Adhere to project interfaces and change control processes
• Create an effective interface between the Project, technology developer, wind turbine supplier and Duty Holder;
• Ensure the seamless flow of information is achieved through effective communications and orderly management of data;
• Specification preparation and procurement;
• Competently assess, challenge and drive optimisation of engineering designs, technical reports and associated deliverables;
• Input to all project areas, including but not limited to Commercial, HSEQ, Finance, Consenting, Seabed Leasing and Lobbying as well as Engineering;
• Attend engineering and consenting workshops to ensure that workstreams are aligned and that designs are optimised and definitions afford appropriate flexibility;
• Assist in technical stakeholder engagement and consultation;
• Preparation and presentation of project literature, reports, presentations and briefing notes including the competent use of all relevant software required to professionally convey project information;
• Management of marine and terrestrial survey contractors;
• Technical oversight of statutory safety notices in relation to the Projects;
• Document and disseminate key lessons learnt.

Experience Required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Degree in Engineering or other relevant field with at least five years’ experience in the offshore sector
• Experience in the offshore wind sector
• Significant experience of leading the engineering development of major capital projects in an offshore environment in the energy industry
• Demonstrable project management experience including change management
• Knowledge around technical and commercial aspects of renewable energy project development
• Knowledge of the regulatory regimes in which such projects must operate
• Experience of managing contractors
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills and an ability to liaise with a range of different parties
• Experience of representing an organisation professionally
• Appreciation of the importance of effective implementation of HSEQ systems
• Computer literate (MS Office) – ability to communicate clearly and concisely by email, prepare Word documents and reports, create and use Excel spreadsheets effectively, prepare presentations using PowerPoint, create and maintain project programmes, and work collaboratively using SharePoint and Teams.
• Fluent English speaker

• Floating wind specific experience will be viewed favourably
• Qualifications in a recognised project management system
• Offshore health and safety qualifications and awareness
• Experience in offshore construction
