Brief description of your role

The Consenting & Environmental Manager will support Simply Blue Group’s efforts in securing all necessary consents, permits and license applications for one of the Irish projects. The Consenting & Environmental Manager must successfully manage the interface with consenting authorities and other relevant stakeholders through the consenting process. The successful applicant must also demonstrate strong project management skillsets and technical knowledge in the consenting of offshore wind projects.


This is a full-time role and salary is subject to negotiation and will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A relocation package will also be agreed, where necessary.

Responsibilities

• Lead on securing all necessary consents and approvals for the Project. Ensuring that interfaces and communications between internal teams and subconsultants are managed effectively and professionally;
• Implement the consenting strategy for the Project;
• Manage expenditure of the Project consenting budget;
• Deliver expert planning and environment advice and direction across all activities associated with the project;
• Lead on the Consent application process for the Project, including:
o Achieving synergies with the consenting strategy(s) of other Irish projects
o Managing and interfacing with the Engineering team in relation to environmental and planning work streams
• Lead on consenting authority liaison and management (and coordinating with policy engagement work);
• Lead on technical consultations with relevant organisations, including governmental, eNGOs and other industry groups and bodies with respect to planning development applications, and associated secondary licences and permits
• Lead on delivery of all required supporting documentation for consent including reports required to inform environmental impact assessments and appropriate assessments; and Annex IV risk assessments required in accordance with the Habitats Directive
• Ensure environmental surveys are robust and efficient and that all survey contractor quality, commercial and HSEQ obligations are discharged by working in collaboration with relevant functions, including project management, commercial and HSE, and according to the correct procedures e.g., the cost control framework;
• Ensure all statutory, external, and internal approvals are obtained in good time and efficiently;
• Ensure best practice and relevant environmental regulations are met or exceeded;
• Work with the project manager and other function leads to provide a seamless interface with the HSE, engineering and commercial work streams for the projects and highlighting requirements from those work streams in good time;
• Advise the project in respect of cumulative impact and actively managing risk and impact of any plan level SEA, AA or HRA;
• Maintain the project risk register in relation to planning and the environment;
• Effectively managing change to ensure continued progress towards core business objectives within the consenting function;
• Reporting to the Project Director of new/changes to project risks that could impact on the overall business case for the project; and
• Provide technical support to the External Relations and Stakeholder Liaison and Social Licence to Operate team.

Experience Required

Competencies for Success
Environmental Professional: 10 plus years’ experience in a professional environmental role (Required)
Consenting: Demonstration of experience in consenting floating offshore wind and/or fixed offshore wind projects (Required)
